This past weekend we celebrated Christmas in Virginia with my side of the family. We had a great time! It was the first time we took Madilyn on a trip, and she did pretty well. The cutest was Madilyn meeting her cousin, Jonas (who is 7 months old) for the first time. Jonas kept reaching out to her real gently, it was so sweet. It was fun thinking about them playing together when they get older. Madilyn also got to meet her other cousins, Amalia, Jillian, Matthew, and Isabella. The girls loved holding her and were like little mothers with her- very cute. Overall we had a great time...but of course it went too quickly!!
Ok, here are some more pictures of Madilyn smiling at us. I couldn't resist. We put our Christmas tree up this weekend and strung the lights. We're planning on putting the ornaments on tonight. Madi LOVED looking at the lights on the tree. We're so excited it's her first Christmas, it makes the holidays SO much more exciting!
Since it is our first Christmas with her, our first Christmas in our new house, and our first real Christmas tree, we were excited to go pick it out together, the 3 of us. Well Madi had a rough night on Friday and didn't sleep much, so....Ryan went and picked it out by himself on Saturday. Once you have a baby, you look at things in much more of a practical way!
Madilyn has started smiling at us! She definitely recognizes our voices now and responds to us by smiling, gurgling and sometimes laughing when we talk to her. We've been having so much fun with her!
Madilyn is now 6 weeks old. I can't believe how the time flies and how big she has gotten! She really has changed alot. The last few weeks have been the most challenging and the most rewarding and wonderful all at the same time! It's true that you just cannot grasp how difficult it really is taking care of a little baby until you have one of your own, no matter what other parents tell you! Regardless, we love Madilyn more than anything. It's also true what others say- that the tough times are completely worth it!!
Madilyn had her first bath the other day since her cord fell off. She loved being in the water! We even saw a few smiles. We're really happy that she seems to enjoy bath time.
Today is Madi's first Halloween! Here are some pictures of her in her little Halloween sleeper and hat. Tonight she will be in her pumpkin costume! She is sleeping peacefully today as you can see, after being awake most of the night!
Yesterday Madilyn was 2 weeks old already. We can't believe how she is growing every day! We took her to the Dr. today and she now weighs 8lbs, 6 oz.! So, in one week she has gained 13oz. And, she has already grown an inch. This week Omi and Pa are visiting, and we're all having a great time. They are really enjoying little Madi! Here are some pictures with them, and also some of Madi in a pretty purple dress that they got for her.
Well, we have to say that the first few days having Madi home have been so wonderful. We love watching her and are in complete awe that she is our baby.
